Official 2011 Big Hammer Challenge Reports,Pics,Leaderboard
This year Team Clusterf*ck consists of Josh Pryor, Robert Pryor, Tommy Sneed, Mark Conner (charkbait) and Mark Duncan (madshark). You could call our trip "Banned of Brothers”, as we have all been banned from Deaver’s little site in the last year. This year’s BHC was a great experience. Thanks to Will and all you others who work so hard to make this happen.
Recognizing that the big challenge of an extended trip is making bait, we all started working to collect bait about a month before this trip. We started with about 300 pounds of rays and Jack Crevalles. After 90+ baits run in 5 days we finished with a half dozen small rays.
This year we truly personified our team name. I was fishing with a bad disc in my neck that forced me to a chiropractor and I got bit by a 5’4” Blacktip across my palm. I appreciate Mark Conner stepping up and kayaking all our baits after I got bitten. His skills are really improving, in the yak, and he really saved our trip. I’ll leave it to the others in our camp to fill in their experiences. Through it all, we managed to put a few fish on the sand.
Team Clusterf*ck loaded out – Mark Duncan, Mark Conner and Tommy Sneed

Robert and Josh Pryor

We set up two camps about 300 yards apart. Me, Mark and Tommy were east camp. Josh and his dad, Robert were west camp. This is the full team at east camp.

We got into fish almost right away.

That’s about it for our BHC 2011 trip. Good luck to everyone and stay safe.
Mark Duncan
Totally impressed with the hard work and the results of teams like Team Clusterfu%K who travelled so far and had such great catches ,personal best and the leaderboard keeps getting pushed up and further yet with the Tournament leading lemon shark ,biggest shark on 80 lb test ,and also on the west coast Team "smokin senators"second biggest shark by a Junior WOW!! What else is in store from now til the end oif this tourney?
How many more top prize winning sharks will be caught from now til May 14th?? Good to see the perserverance in so many teams that got off to bad starts ,good to see everyone fishing through one kind hardship or another and having great FUN. Good to finally see some teams put points on the board others kicking curses of wrestling nurses .,,,I knew you could all do it ,and i'm proud of everyones performance. I knew bad weather,a dry spell, rain ,bitten hands and all kinds of things can't stop the best shark hunters on the planet .Congratulations to all Teams and thanks for making this the best Big Hammer Challenge ever.

caught an 80" jewfish saturday night but i was all by myself and the flash on the camera wasnt working so i got one bad pic
however the next morning i witnessed hitler (all 15 plus feet of him) eatin some tarpon just off the beach, saw chris of lake worth sharkers hook a big hammer, saw the lady angler from total release catch another nice jewfish, and spotted a 10 plus foot bull or tiger cruisin in like 10 feet of water before leaving around 2:30.... minus the 3rd degree sunburn, not a bad weekend
People ask me how I could fish my own tourney, and I simply tell them I am not in it to win it but instead to try and push the competition to excel to there very best.WHEN AND IF I EVER CATCH THE BIGGEST SHARK IN THIS TOURNAMENT I WILL DISQUALIFY MY CATCH I will not take a win from anyone.I win watching all of you catch big sharks ,having fun on the beach with family and friends and that is compensation enough for me,that is true gratification for me. So I want to make it clear to everyone that my intention is to promote the sport, promote the BHC and propel the anglers competing in it to catch there biggest sharks ever and to hold an event that is enjoyed and appreciated by the anglers in it.
.
William,
In my opinion, if you build something, you should enjoy it. Why would anybody want to win, if they really didn't? Would it not be more meaningfull if you won competing against the best players? FWIW.
To all the participants, OUTSTANDING!!! Don't give up and if you lose one rig one.
Sarge

Team Bite Pressure
This is the last week to get some sharks on the board. Last night started off a little slow, until we got hit by the "Nurse Curse," and when it rains it pours. Three nurse sharks in rapid succession. We didn't get an opportunity to take a lot of pics because before we could start taking them, another clicker would start singing. With only three members present we didn't have a body to spare for proper pics and tried to take as many required photos as possible.
